Review and rating of Hugo Cabret
After reading Brian Selznick's 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret' we have come to a conclusive opinion of our thoughts and feelings of the book, our opinion is that this book is sophisticated, well written and intriguing to our senses. These are displayed throughout the book by his illustrations and language techniques within his writing.
One of our favourite scenes out of this book would have to be, by an extensive amount is Hugo and Isabella are impatiently waiting for the automaton to reveal it message or what it was created to do. Through this scene Hugo loses his patience when the automaton only at first creates a small line across the page and he is disappointed because he had high hopes and expectation which were failed to be met. This is our favourite scene due to the anticipation and rising tension which is shown through the scene.
This is only one example out of many that displays his high level of skills in his writing, which makes this novel very appealing to most.
In conclusion we would recommend this book to anyone who loves a short, thrill seeking, intense graphic novel that engages the audience and makes you live
vicariously through the characters.
